I have heard time and time again parents that say they have picky eaters or parents that are concerned about their children getting enough fruits and vegetables. I really want to start a blog about healthy eating habits for children but in order for children to eat healthy parents must show by example. So really it would be a blog for families. I feel I don't have the knowledge and experience yet to start it but I am learning. For now I will share things I do know. My friends
Katie and
Sarah both love giving their kids smoothies. Taytum loves her smoothies and will wait at my feet begging for me to finish. Smoothies are a great way to give kids the nutrition that they need in a form that they love. It is also a great way to throw in a few extra surprises they don't even know they are eating. I promised my cousin a post about what goes into my smoothies so for all you other smoothie creators out their comment on things you like to add.
I use regular frozen fruit from walmart. (Dole makes a great giant bag of mixed fruit)

A small handful of berries and peaches (peaches make it a little sweeter).

I add a few capsules of Omega 3 fatty acids (just poke a hole in one end with a pin) or the liquid form is available and you could just spoon it in. I also use a scoop full of Power greens. I usually add probiotics but have run out so I didn't put any in this time.

A big handful of spinach or broccoli or whatever green veggie you have. I would have added more but need some for dinner and need to go grocery shopping badly.

A small handful of ground flax seeds. I buy mine already ground but you can buy them whole and use a coffee grinder. Flax seeds are pretty tasteless and are a great source of essential fatty acids.

Then I added about a cup and a half of water and blended it in my amazing vita-mix. I like to use more water so it is easily sucked through Taytum's sippie. Older kids may want it a little thicker.

Serve and enjoy.
